Origins:
Buddhism started in the 6th century in northern India with someone by the name of Siddhartha Gautama, also referred to as the Buddha.
HISTORY:
Siddhartha Gautama was a prince who did not know much about the outside world. One day he decided to go see for himself what it was like outside his normal royal life and found great suffering and pain in the world. He was so impacted by his discoveries that he left all the luxuries of his old life and set out on a journey to find a solution.
BELIEFS
Three Universal Truths
1.Everything in life is impermanent and always changing.
2.Because nothing is permanent, a life based on possessing things or persons doesn't make you happy.
3.There is no eternal, unchanging soul and "self" is just a collection of changing characteristics or attributes.
Four Noble Truths
1.Human life has a lot of suffering.
2.The cause of suffering is greed.
3.There is an end to suffering.
4.The way to end suffering is to follow the Middle Path.
